GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Pheasant Trails Golf Course is an 18-hole public facility located in Dumas, Texas, 40 minutes north of Amarillo in the Texas panhandle. Open year-round, the course consists of 9 holes with Bermuda tees and fairways with poa and bent grass greens and 9 holes with rye grass fairways and tees with bent grass greens.


Essential Job Functions:

a- Perform overall supervision, scheduling, training and discipline of personnel

b- Assist with preparation of  annual budget and monitor expenditures as necessary
c- Prioritize, plan, and organize all maintenance and repair needs for grounds and equipment
d-Ensure safe and effective use, handling and storage of chemicals
e-Conduct operation and maintenance of irrigation system and train employees in its use
f-Communicate courteously and effectively with all other city employees, officials, and the public
g-Operate hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment necessary to maintain facility


Required Education, Certificates, and/or Licenses:

High school diploma/GED; 2-4 year turf grass degree/certificate or 2-5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent; valid Texas Class C driver's license; ability to obtain TDA Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator license within 90 days of hire.

Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in golf maintenance required; supervisory experience preferred; knowledge and ability to work safely with all types of tools and equipment used in golf operations; familiarity with proper methods of grass and tree care related to golf operations; ability to communicate courteously and effectively and work well with others.

Salary $37,000+ DOQ; medical and dental insurance (employee policy paid by city); retirement (TMRS); paid vacation, sick leave and holidays; GCSAA and chapter membership dues; and uniforms.
